Most guitar books start with five open chords that take six months just to switch between cleanly. This book takes a different path. You learn the A major scale in all five positions on the fretboard, the chords that go with each position, the arpeggios for those chords, and the 3rd and 6th harmonies that turn scales into real lead playing. By the end of the book you can play in every major key on the guitar.

This book is written for students age 8 and up who know nothing about music or guitar. It also works for intermediate players who want to finally understand the Nashville Numbering System the way Nashville session players actually use it. The book is structured so you can teach yourself at home, or a parent or instructor can teach from it lesson by lesson.
Why the Nashville Number System
The Nashville Numbering System replaces letter names with the numbers 1 through 7. Once you know the seven numbers, you can play in every key on the guitar without memorizing twelve different scales. Worship bands, Nashville session players, and country bands have used this system for decades because it is faster to read, faster to transpose, and easier to teach. Casey has used it on stage every week for the last five years with his band in Denham Springs, Louisiana.
About the Author
Casey Ray Shaw has been playing guitar for 49 years and electric guitar for 40 of those. He started his first band, Wild Ride, at 27 in Denver City, Texas, playing country and rock at the Higginbotham Jamboree. He has led worship music in Louisiana for over two decades and currently plays lead guitar with the Christ Community Church Praise and Worship Team in Denham Springs. He wrote this book to teach his grandson Thadeus, and he wants other beginners to have the shortcut he never had.
